2010 - the Year of Bicycle Polo

This is going to be a good year! Last night we started it off right with an exhibition game(s) at the Harrison Center up in Indy. Keith, Doug, Shawn, and Chad were super nice guys that we will definitely seeing a lot more. One fellow from Oregon (Matt) even came out to play since he was in town for the holidays. I had never been to a First Friday event before but man was it awesome! Great art, great people- and they let us play polo in the middle of it all!! The Harrison Center staff was extremely supportive and deserve a thousand thanks for putting on a great event. Hopefully this might become a regular thing!

Alright- less chatter, more content. Here's a few of the photos Ashley took when she wasn't playing. Evan also got a bunch with his camera that I'll post once he gets 'em up.

Thanks again to Keith and the Harrison Center for a great f*ckin' night!

  2. Thanks donnie! i'm glad you're finally online. The club blog is mostly about communication between everyone; this blog, though, is really just about me being obsessed with polo.

And great job last night! First intercity match dude, you're moving on up in the poloverse!

Shawn was super awesome to hang out with afterward. I think he convinced me to finally upgrade my wheels (48 spoke chukkers, built by him :)

Now i just need a giant stack of cash....

  5. If they did this the first Friday of every month I would go EVERY month. We should encourage reaching that goal.

Also, I know I'm probably just being an eager beaver, but maybe after we get back from St. Louis we can start talking about/planning a spring time polo get-together in March. I'm all about helping to organize!

p.s. Rinzin, you're getting a Joust?! Aren't they pretty expensive? That's crazy and awesome!

  6. *word verification off* that shit was annoying- didn't know i could change it.

Ashley, HELL YES! We should hit Lexington et al in February and then invite all our midwestern friends to btown in March. We could play the big courts during the day then switch to the tennis courts at night.

And once Travis gets IUbikepolo going then we can have a tournament at/during Little 500 in April!!!

  8. I'm seriously considering adam's hockey tournament. But it's in March and I have to spread out my time off... plus hopefully we'll have our first friendlies around then. I'm gonna try and space things out to about 1 big event per month. But if we can get more localized stuff going on (in indy and/or btown) than i'd easily be down for 2 events per month. Maybe I should just become a professional polo player (ie- a homeless alcoholic w/ a bike)!

The lexrides forum is awesome! Those guys have definitely been organized for a while, and it looks like they have a great cycling community even beyond polo! They seem to be more on our level, like st.louis and como. Still, once summer comes i wanna make regular trips up to Chicago/MKE/Madison.
